Reading reflection pt.2
The book I am reporting on is called - Makers: The New Industrial Revolution, Chris Anderson
1.) The main take away was focused on developing countries or businesses and finding a way to create a sustainable product that will aid for that business to grow. The focus should not be to mass produce one item and make profit out of that because like trends, products go in and out of use; focus on customizing pieces to prompt more business and stick out from competitors.
2.) The books main goal was to show the readers the importance of being original and trying to stay outside of the box when it comes to product development. In this class we learn that even though original ideas are a rarity, that originality of purpose is always thriving and interchanging. Both this book and our class highlight the important of making connects, making a profit, and using a creative outlet to make a difference.
3.) An exercise I think would be great would be to get a popular product and find a way to market it in a different way or improve upon it. This would involve being creative, flexible and have an idea that is personalized to your/ or your customers design. For instance, toilet seat covers or book covers things that people don't think there is much of a market around.
4.) I think what surprised me was the emphasize of 3-D printing as a valuable source for saving money and making a profit. A lot of companies have access to this type of technology but I don't see a lot of them take advantage of its use. That could also be because of time constraints or labor detail, but still was interesting to read nonetheless.
