Halfway reflection
1.) This course, being online majority of the time, means that future students must keep consistently checking for any updates or assignments due because it is easy to forget about something you don't interact with everyday. For me, the first two maybe three weeks were a hard adjustment because the time of when to turn in everything threw me off and I had just come back from a 4 month vacation. as the semester progressed I learned through trial and error to do assignments early and ask for help from my peers if I need it.
2.) I felt like giving up on homework assignments, but never giving up in this class. I think the hardest time I had was when I went home two weeks ago and we had a video assignment due because it was hard enough to do homework when my entire family wanted to hang out with me, but to do a video in a quite place was even harder. I have younger siblings who don't know the meaning of quiet and I had stayed up till 2 working on homework, not only for this class but my other classes. Luckily for me, I had the will power to finish and complete all my homework assignments because once you are done with an assignment you never have to do it again. seeing the finish line so close helps motivate most people to continue on because you already got this far so might as well finish it. I think I have a stronger attitude then I did starting out in the semester. To be frank, the will to even touch homework so close to spring break is killing me, but knowing that I will be done soon makes my effort all the worth while. I think I shaped up seeing how I slacked in a class and how it affected my grade negatively and not to mention exam week(s) was a wake up call to get me moving forward toward my goal.
3.)The tips I leave for you are these:
-Remind yourself the end goal of this class. Why are you in this class? ,Why is it important you pass?, Who are you doing this class for?, and What is your end goal leaving this class?
- Take a breath. You might be stressed out about life, relationships, school or work which definitely can interfere with productivity and your emotional/mental health. You come first over everything else because if you are healthy you will have an easier time finishing assignments or studying than if you are a wreck. Missing one assignment is not the end of the world, trust me, you have plenty of time to regroup and properly finish what you started.
- Get yourself into a pattern. I did that for this class because of the time we have to turn in assignments. It's possible to do them the day they are due but you are running against the clock and trust me you aren't gonna do the best if you rush. plan ahead to avoid schedule conflicts, work conflicts, and event conflicts so you can finish off the week worry free about this class.

Jacelynn,
ReplyDeleteReally good job! I find that a lot of the things each on of us say in this assignment overlap, which just encourages the tips and characteristics one needs to have in order to be successful in this course! I too had a hard time in feeling motivated to complete the assignments especially because they are time consuming and there are multiple a week. However, the tip you gave that encourages to take a deep breath and keep your end goal in mind is so helpful and something I definitely think would've helped me in times like that. Being able to stay organized and plan are some characteristics that are not only important in this class, but most definitely as an entrepreneur as well. This course gives us those skills through the work and lectures and the time each of them require, but with your tips in mind it can definitely be manageable!
Jacelynn,
DeleteI agree, the time to submit assignments is different from all of the classes I have had. It has taught me to practice time management and/or work ahead. The tip that I can relate to the most is "taking a breath". As students we get caught up in doing as much as we can in an alloted time. However, we neglect our mental and emotional health tremendously. It is very important to think about your mental and emotional health. If these two aren't in good standing then it can definitely affect your work.
