Solving the problem

My selected opportunity is reducing the amount of animals returned to shelters or dumped on an abandoned area. I have seen this opportunity for a while since I volunteer with a rescue group. This happens a lot more than people care to mention. The reason shelters even exist is because of overpopulation of animals (which why spay/neuter programs are so prevalent around the country). A lot of animals in the shelter are strays, given up by their owner, or given to the shelter when their owner passes away. My idea would just add an extra security that these animals being adopted find their perfect home. Adoption councilors try their best to find the right homes, but only have so much time and resources to find out if this is truly a match. Unfortunately, the description on the cages do not go into major detail about a dogs/ cats issues; mostly focus on temperament. Most of the animals have some form of trauma whether its abandonment, neglect, abuse, or never experiencing love. With these issues each dog handles it in there own way and it can be channeled into barking, being extremely shy, growling, chewing, and sometimes aggression. For potential owners they don't see the underlying issue, they see the act of defense as not worth their time or somebody else's problem. The system I want in place is to tell the good qualities, the bad qualities, and breed information to give a person the chance to see if they can handle the whole package because this is not a short term commitment; each animal has its own needs.
Education is the best form of preventing unfortunate things from happening. I added breed education for my product because I want adoptees to understand the general personality of the pet they are getting. This important to know so that they can be aware of future or potential health issues, training performance, family orientation, size of dog (size of responsibility), and general temperament. The system I want can be on paper, but it would be more efficient on a computer. The system is a basic questionnaire about living situation, preferable dog/ cat size, temperament, do they have current experience with said pet, who will take care of the animal, Owner pet peves, why do they want one, and any additional notes they would like to add like coat color, age, and sex. The purpose is to be a guide for adoptees before looking at the potential animals so they can right away see if its a match or not. The results give about idealy five best matches but it could be more or less depending on how specific they were on the quetsionarie. They will then get to meet all the potential canadites on their results to se if theri is a personal connection and if so then they can  go ahead with the adoption processes.Of course if they don't care for the results or they are just looking around then the questionnaire is just precaution. For those who, on a whim, want to get an animal, they must take the questionnaire along with going through the adoption process to make sure they are making a rash decision.
I did not make this product in the hopes to gain money or start a business from it. If I had to charge money for this product I would go extremely low like a dollar and those proceeds would go back to the shelter or another organization that is involved with animal rescue. The major point is to cause less stress on the animals and the adoptees so that comeing to the shelter is a nice experince rather than a bad or emotionally drainig one. I can't take into account what will happen to that owner or that animal becasue only time can tell. Sometimes an owner has to give up a pet duue to future restrictions and responsibilities, which is unfortunate but not uncommen. They are not bad people, it is better to return an animal if an owner can't provide a decend home for it, rather than keep one out of pitty. My goal is to take into some of these things and let them be aware of the animal they are adopting and remind them of the commitment they are taking on. At the end of the day, we all want to help these animals and save a life but it is also important that we take into account their needs, allowing for the optimal outcome of adopting a shelter animal.
