Miracles Happen by Mary Kay Ash

1.)  What surprised me to most about Mary Kay was her drive to get her business up and running after the death of her husband and having to raise three kids on her own. He died a month before she launched her business, to me this showed that no matter what obstacles she faced she wasn't gonna let any of them stop her. I admired her for her strength but also for her hyperawareness and openness to new ideas or situations. It seemed like, even thou her life was a mess she still had time to face reality and still had time to keep a leveled head when it came to tough decisions. The least favorite thing for me is the order in which she puts her priorities because they don't align with mine but basically she puts god before family, which is a very religious thing to do, I would put family over God. This is just my personal opinion, as far as the rest of her ideals I really liked majority of it. She was taking care of her dying father and dealing with the loss of her husband around the time she decided to open a business. She started her business with stress, debt, and emotional turmoil which I don' t understand  how she managed to keep going after everything she has been through.

2.) I noticed she is successful because of her mindset and her attitude toward tough situations. She says to just keep going and that if a dream is worth it in your eyes then, nothing should stop you from achieving it. There will be bumps on the road of course, but learn from your mistakes and keep making an effort to succeed.

3.) She states that writing in a diary will help achieve your goals which, the actual concept I understand, but I don't understand how writing something in a book will help you in the long term. I have seen this advice with other successful people and have tried it, but it doesn't work for me or may be I am doing something wrong.

4.) I would ask: How did you handle/ manage your grief about the death of your husband without affecting your dreams? and As a women in a business world how do you follow your own categorization of what is most important in women into your work environment?

5.) I think she knows that hard work is necessary to achieve greatness, dreams can only get you so far. I agree with her, in that without hard work, dedication and a vison your dreams can't become a reality. It is the base of success, there are not a lot of successful people who didn't put effort into their ideas, companies, or brands.

  1. Hi Jacelynn, I really enjoyed your post on Mary Kay Ash. It is so important to me that strong women like Mary Kay are highlighted to young girls as in inspiration. I totally agree with her notion of writing things down, there is so much power in making something real by writing down your goals, plan, and actions that you want to take to achieve these goals.
