5 Opportunities

1. The fish in the small cooler? No problem. The shark in the big cooler? Problem.

-Basically an old man went fishing and got stopped by police at a traffic light. The police asked to see the catch of the day, when they noticed a bigger cooler in the back. The officer asked what was in this cooler and the old man replied " a shark". It was indeed a shark, but not any shark, a lemon shark which is an endangered species protected by Florida law. The old man was cited and fined for his crime while the shark was taken away to be properly dispose.
-The problem is fishing regulations being ignored
-Besides the individual getting fined, the main problem falls back on Florida law and the people who are supposed to uphold that.

-This plant called the Pineapple ginger, could now potentially thrive in south Florida due to winter months not being as cold as the years progress. This allows for the pineapple ginger to thrive allowing for year round access to this plant that provides, medicinal, culinary, and aesthetic benefits.
- The problem used to be that the cold winter months would kill the plant, now that global warming has drastically impacted our enviroment, winter temperatures are getting warmer.
-Global warming has a different effect on other places, for south Floridians it makes winters warmer but for our neighbors up north in Chicago, their winters are getting historically colder.

  1. It is so crazy how three people got hurt, two of them killed, by cars! People being hurt by drivers who are not paying attention are the reasons I avoid using the bike lane while on a bike. Though I can see how in some parts of campus, there is so much going on, it can be difficult to drive. Interesting stories you found!
